Romanesque Interpretation Center
An exhibition space to delve into the secrets of Romanesque art
Located inside the Church of San Juan Bautista, in the Huerta de Guadián Park, it is a must-see space to learn about the characteristics of the Romanesque, its most outstanding keys and its artistic relevance in the province of Palencia. Declared a Historic Artistic Monument in 1981, the hermitage of San Juan Bautista had its original location in Villanueva del Río. It was moved to the capital, stone by stone, in the 1960s to avoid its disappearance under the waters of the Aguilar de Campoo reservoir. It is currently temporarily closed while some reforms are underway.
